Twenty Eight and a Half Inches of Snow...

For the second time in three months, a major blizzard has hit Philadelphia and their environs, dumping a total of twenty eight and a half inches of snow and approaching the 1996 storm.  I lived in the hellhole of the universe, Emporia, Virginia back in 1996 and had a foot of ice.

It could have been worse... If you lived in Ridley Park in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, thirty inches of the white stuff fell.  SEPTA was shut down, the Airport was open, but no flights were to be found, and they should have cancelled the Villanova-Georgetown game in DC after a blizzard warning was issued.  The Cats got a roll of stamps and mailed it in.  Me thinks the mayor of DC would like to speak to Teddy Leonitis, the Polin family (owners of Verizion Center) and Georgetown University's athletic goons - er, department - for producing this fiasco.  If I ran the city, slap them with a six-figure fine for everyone... namely $100,000 each for a direct violation of orders.

Up to Fourteen Eighteen Twenty Inches of Partly Cloudy

I'm very relieved that I planned to go to New York City to take in some Christmas sights this year.  However, it has been canceled because there's a major snowstorm coming.

An old fashioned 'Nor-easter is bearing down on us as I write this and we're expecting up to a twenty inches of powdery white stuff called snow. I may not get out and shovel until Sunday (12/20) after watching football all weekend.  Remember, one inch of rain is equal to ten inches of snow, so we are looking at 200 inches of rain.  Noah, get me the ark prepared.

A Rainout, No Live Blog and Nothing Else To See...Move Along...

All righty, two quick notes for you:

1. Game Six of the 2009 ALCS has been postponed until tomorrow (10/25) at 8:20 PM US EDT becuase of heavy rains, a thunderstorm and high winds.  The same stuff I get here in Philadelphia.  If a seventh game is needed, that would be Monday (10/26) at 7:55 PM US EDT.
2. No NFL live blog for us (JFein, Keith, et al) this week.  Mookie, like his Seahawks, decided to take a bye week, so may we suggest a visit to the new site being assisted by those at Awful Announcing, 12stepdrop.com for you live blogging needs.

Other than that, nothing to see, please move along.  Other than that, the Football Night in America live blog for tomorrow is still on.

By the way, the player who did that was docked $10,000 by the NFL for that, and the Seahawks were docked $100,000 for violating league rules on clearing the seating area of standing snow. And no, it's not known as the "Bounty Bowl II" rule. It's known as "The Giants Stadium Rule" from a simular 1996 event during a Chargers-Giants game nationally telecast on NBC.
